Rotari Rosé Trento Talento NV

Light pink-salmon color; very subtle strawberry, floral nose; strawberry, cherry, peach, bright fruit, yeasty, delicate on the palate with vibrant and persistent perlage (bubbles/effervescence), superb acidity; superb quality-to-price sparkling wine from Italy.

Made in the classic metodo classico style, same as Champagne, using 75% pinot noir, 25% chardonnay. The wine spends significant time on its yeast, engendering a distinctive Rotari style.

Rotari comes from the valleys and hills of Trentino in the heart of The Dolomites (Italian Alps) in northeastern Italy, so vineyards are framed by soaring mountains. Rotari takes its name from stories and legends of the valiant Lombard King Rotari (also spelled Rothari) who reigned from 636 to 652 and won decisive battle against the Byzantines. Rotari vineyards and the Dolomites are located just east of Lombardy.

Rotari is part of Gruppo Mezzacorona, one of the Italian wine giants for more than a century (Stemmari is another of their brands). Mezzacorona is committed leader in green movement, both in their vineyards and their wineries. Sustainable agriculture, clean and renewable sources of energy, efficient use of water, and reduced carbon dioxide emissions.

This is outstanding wine value, and delicious and a refreshing sparkling wine—with amazingly vigorous and long-lived bubbles—no matter the price. $13-14
