Renicci ‘Il Rosso di Renicci’ Toscana 2008

Ruby color with some translucence; red currant, dark cherry, spice on the nose; black cherry, plum, grilled tomato, raspberry, blackberry, leather, spice on the palate.

Super Tuscan blend of 65% sangiovese, 35% merlot; grippy tannin, moderate acidity; round and rich in the mouth, sticks to your tongue and teeth. Significant oak from aging in small French barriques. Big boy red, not for the faint of palate, but fascinating adventure for those who enjoy distinctive, assertive, challenging reds.

Renicci was founded in 2001 in Suvereto, a small town in the Italian province of Livorno, near the Etrusker coast of Tuscany. Renicci focused on sustainable, green farming, hand harvesting of grapes, and distinctive offerings.

Renicci ‘Il Rosso di Renicci’ Toscana 2008 is bold, dark, benefits from air, pair it with assertive red meats—will overpower white meats and fish. $28-30
